Richard Evans, MA
Hi, I’m Richard. I have a Master of Arts in Counseling and I am passionate about walking with people going through difficult situations that leave us feeling helpless, hopeless, or trapped. I know the devastating effect that trauma and addiction can have first-hand and I bring that experience of working through those with me into each session. I believe that hope and healing are possible and that the vehicle for change is found in safe relationships.
I am registered as an Associate Professional Counsellor (APC) with the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists (PACCP) and a Counselling Therapist with the Association of Counselling Therapists of Alberta (ACTA).
APPROACH TO COUNSELLING:
My approach to counselling includes creating safety in the relationship and being authentic. I use trauma-informed practices to journey alongside my clients as we sift through life to process the areas of hurt. Often, it feels insurmountable to do this on our own and I feel honored to be allowed into these moments of pain as we find the way forward together.
AREAS OF SPECIALIZED TRAINING:
- Addiction (substance, sexual, behavioural)
- Trauma
- Crisis
- Motivational Interviewing
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed
