Hi, my name is TJ. I have a Masters degree in Counselling and I am also a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and registered professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I am dedicated to creating an atmosphere of safety and trust where my clients feel heard, validated, and understood. I believe that by creating an authentic therapeutic connection, marked by compassion and empathy, people can move towards the change they desire. I have a deep passion for helping people cultivate awareness of the thoughts and feeling that may be driving their behaviors, as well as compassionately journeying alongside those who carry the burden of guilt and shame. As a counsellor, I will listen, encourage, and empower my clients as we journey together.
APPROACH TO COUNSELLING
TJ works primarily from an attachment theory-based position while incorporating aspects of emotions focused therapy (EFT), and internal family systems (IFS) theory. With these theories as a framework, TJ focuses on the role various traumas have had in perpetuating debilitating mental conditions like anxiety, depression, addiction and suicidal ideation. For couple’s work, TJ incorporates aspects of Gottman method couples counselling and emotion focused couples’ therapy (EFCT) into his clinical work.
