In this workshop we invite you to come and re-examine addiction, people struggling in addiction, and our tendency towards “othering” them. Richard Evans and TJ Mackenzie are passionate about the changes that need to take place in our perspectives if we desire to have organizations and churches that are healing for those struggling in addiction.
This workshop weaves together the psychology and physiology of addiction and gives us a picture of how we are all called to connect with those we would rather “other” and create community with people who are struggling.
Addiction has been widely misunderstood and its healing mismanaged. It is time that we uncover the painful truths of shame and disconnection that lie behind the masks of distressing behaviours such as addiction. This process may ask us to peek in the mirror and sit with what is reflected there.
There is healing and hope for those who find themselves stuck in the cycles of addiction. We desire to help you gain the understanding and skill required to journey with them toward healing and freedom.
Group Size: 4-50people.
Length: 3hrs.
Are you planning this workshop for a Church? Our counsellors have dived deep into the connection between theology and psychology and have prepared additional content for this course in the area of discipleship with those struggling in Addiction. Please let us know if this is something you would hope to add to your workshop.
Burnout is the experience of emotional and physical strain that can surface due to being in a position of helping others. Burnout is increasingly affecting those in helping professions like paramedics, RCMP, social work, hospital and health care staff teams, schoolteachers, and church leaders.
The symptoms of burnout affect every area of a person’s life, influencing emotions, deteriorating bodies, and adding tension in relationships. Symptoms can be overwhelming and rob people of fulfillment and joy in their work.
Continually extending compassion and empathy in professions focused on helping others can often bring people to a place of being stuck in a cycle of weariness. This cycle leads us to continually decreased energy and fulfillment. Preventative measures and awareness can guide a person away from this cycle and bring them to a place of renewed energy for life and work
MTO reach is here to help you and your team incorporate proper self-care, boundaries, self-compassion, and emotional intelligence into your life and work.
